The Tabbitarium
No relief in sight for Tabby refugee
Ladygyrl is worried. In this economy, there is not enough money to go around, nevermind
to spend on all the strays in the neighborhood. According to the ASPCA, there are
tens of millions of homeless cats in the US and this number is growing as humans who are
out of work and strapped for cash abandon their pets to the wild.
The Tabbitarium doesn't deal with Feral Cats, in fact we don't know any who would want
to mess with me, Buff and Skinny when the fur gets flying, but these days there is no
end to the strays looking for a place to flop or a spoonful of canned meat to brighten
their diets. Skinny is a real refugee. Skinny is part of the pride these days but he is
the poster boy for strays everywhere. He's a roamer and a scrapper however and it
is starting to become a problem.
The old man said today that the neighbors are going to complain soon if something is
not done about Skinny. He is a pretty cool cat but he's all boy, in fact the only
stray to join the Foxclaws who has not been neutered.
Skinny doesn't just love to roam. He just can't help himself. Let's face it, he's
an Alpha male and spring is in the air. Ah yes, mates, the sun is shining, the snow
is melting and that special scent, the scent of male tabby's is in the air. Around
the Tabbitarium, most of that scent these days belongs to Skinny.
Friedrich Durrenmatt, Portrait of a Planet
Since we instituted the NNF (Nurture, Neuter and Foster) program at the Tabbitarium,
Skinny has been the only cat who has not yet enjoyed the full benefit of the program.
Until the humans tanked their economy, there was plenty of money to go around for
taking care of the tabbies, unfortunately, now we rely completely on the proceeds from
the Tabbitarium pet shop to support our NNF efforts.
You can help by:
1. Fostering a tabby of your own
2. Buying our products
3. donating to the Tabbitarium
