The Tabbitarium
Losing Weight is No Joke!
The old man is trying to watch his weight lately.
The Tabbitarium is not all fun and games.
This has something to do with the way his old heart beats.
Funny how he didn't mention it at all last month when it would have been the "in thing" to do.
So now he is hopping on and off the scale like a model before the summer catalogs.
So Buffcat gets this idea. He curls up all furry and cute in a tabby ball
as innocent as you please, see? And When the old man comes stumbling downstairs, this morning and
hops up on the scale, yeah? So, with him it's some big ritual, coughing and clearing
his throat a million times. Anyway, after a minute of sniffing and some incantation
he always mutters, he gets up and just like clockwork, he steps up on the scale.
Now, all this time Buffcat's been laying on a pillow in the corner pretending to snooze away.
Usually we all push our heads under a paw so as to muffle the sound of his caterwauling.
Trust me, as he looks down at the scale he sounds like a, well like an alley cat in heat.
So this morning, just as his right foot leaves the floor on it's way to his daily
disappointment, what does Buffcat do? The rascal sneaks right up behind him like a lion
setting his sights on a gazelle and plans his own considerable butt on the scale. Okay,
show of hands. What do you think the old man does as he looks down to see 25 pounds added
to his already substantial bulk?
- William Gilmore Beymer
You guessed it, mates! He started to curse. It was glorious! But I took pity on him, I did.
I licked his foot, wrapped my arms around his shin and started in on him like a
dog with a bone. Well don't you know he stopped that crying and jumped off the scale with a shout!
Ever heard the old saying "Litter slides downhill?"
He must have chased me around the house three times before he gave up huffing and puffing.
So you see, what started out as a practical joke, may turn out to be a 25 pound LOSS when
all is said and done.
