Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the video game!
DuddieCat back again,
Oh mates, the graphics these days? So sick! Oh yeah, don't you doubt that we are a gamer family. Here in the Tabbitarium, Ave Maria is a theme song for a hitman and fine strains of piano waft across the meadow just before Master Chief cocks his cannon.
Don't believe me? Check out these snippets of conversation we had over cake while Dulcie stuffed the mice into our prize Turkey.
- Lil Kit: do you know that this game has the same engine as Call of Duty?
- Thin Cat: yeah I know and it has really good "Ragdoll" effects.
- Duddie: yeay but I bet it's got some glitches.
- Dulcie: but the physics is really good.
- lil Kit: dude, it's an RPG! It's the best one of the year.
So, let's take some inventory. I was born the year Robert Dvorak hooked an analog computer to an oscilloscope to implement Bill Higinbotham's "Pong" idea. Coincidence? nay, I say! Try "Kizmet".
It took another 14 years for Motarola to warp it in a plastic box so that I could annoy my parents about games at christmas. From there is was only another 6 short years before space invaders hit the scene, making it possible for me to drink all the beer I wanted FOR FREE!
Then that Wozniac cat and his marketing partner built the Apple ][ and I just had to be there. 6502 all the way, Baby!! er... for a year or two anyway. The systems have grown up along with the rest of us but I suppose in the scheme of a cat's life, it's all just another blip on the oscilloscope.
